EXECUTIVE FUNCTION DISORDERS AND SELF-DEFICITS
Presented by Joseph Palombo, MA
This workshop will provide clinical information and treatment approaches for Executive Function Disorder, with both children and adults. The developmental variant of Executive Function Disorder has recently been identified as a learning disorder. With its recognition as a neurobehavioral disorder, an additional challenge has been to uncover the psychodynamics of the disorder. The presentation will review the history of the concept, the neuropsychological definition, and the theories that explain it. Since these definitions do not address the psychodynamics associated with the disorder, a neuro-psychodynamic model will be proposed, to clarify the disorder and present treatment approaches. A case illustration will be given and discussed.
